NEW DELHI: Virat Kohli added another major milestone to his remarkable ODI career on Sunday. The India star became only the second batter after Sachin Tendulkar to score 15,000 runs in One-day Internationals.Kohli reached the landmark during India’s chase in the first ODI against the West Indies in Thiruvananthapuram. He completed 15,000 runs with a four off Alzarri Joseph.

As Kohli pulled the short ball past mid-wicket for four, the crowd rose to its feet and applauded the Indian batter.Kohli acknowledged the cheers by raising both arms. The moment marked another milestone in a career filled with records.The 15,000-run mark puts Kohli in an elite club led by Tendulkar, who finished his ODI career with 18,426 runs.Kohli reached 15,002 runs from 315 matches and 303 innings. He has scored 54 centuries and 80 fifties in ODIs, with a highest score of 183. His ODI batting average stands at 58.83, while his strike rate is more than 94.Tendulkar remains the leading run-scorer in ODI cricket with 18,426 runs from 463 matches. He scored 49 centuries and 96 fifties during his ODI career.Kohli has been the second-highest run-scorer in ODI cricket since going past former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara in October 2025. Sangakkara scored 14,243 runs in the format and remains third on the all-time list.Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting is fourth with 13,704 runs in 375 ODIs, while former Sri Lanka opener Sanath Jayasuriya is fifth with 13,430 runs in 448 matches.
